Miss Shauna
Shauna brings 17 years of dance experience to The Dance Company. She
started her 13 year teaching and choreographing career in 1996. After
moving to Rapid City she spent three years as an instructor at Prima
School of Dance. She and her family returned to Spearfish in 2002 when
she opened The Dance Company.
Shauna’s background includes being a four year member of the Gold Rush
Dance team, participated four years in the Miss America Pageant system,
and performed with the Rapid City Thriller Dancers. Ms. Shauna also
coached the Stevens Blues Dance Team, and the BHSU Gold Rush Dance
Company.
Specializing in jazz, hip hop, prop, and team performing Ms. Shauna
hopes to provide a fun environment where all dancers can express their
creativity while building a positive self image. Most recently Miss
Shauna has trained with Shane Sparks, Wade Robson, Cris Judd, Mia
Micheals and Kyle B. Miss Shauna is very proud of her dancers and
routines that have placed Nationally at competitions in the last 5
years. However, her main goal is to have a welcoming studio where
students can learn about themselves and develop their self confidence
and dance education in a comfortable setting allowing them to progress
at their own pace.
Ms.
Shauna is a 1998 graduate of Black Hills State University, and 2003
graduate of the South Dakota School of Mines Masters program.
Miss Nichole
Miss Nichole brings 17 years of dance training and 8 years of
choreography and instructing experience to The Dance Company. She began
her dance training in Bozeman, Montana where she calls home. Nichole is
trained extensively in Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Hip-Hop and Lyrical. She has
studied under many top choreographers and instructors from around the
country.
Miss Nichole began teaching and choreographing when she was a senior in
High School and has found a passion for it. She has been awarded top
choreography titles with several of her lyrical routines and many
Overall High Point awards with her other solo and group choreography.
Nichole has also directed the Bozeman Ice Dogs Dance Team , the Bozeman
Kodiak Dance Team, BHSU Gold Rush Dance Company and as a member of the
Flying Aces Bombshell Team.
Nichole is originally from Bozeman, Montana and has lived in the Black
Hills area for 6 years now. She started dance training at the age of 10
in Bozeman with a private studio. She trained extensively in Jazz and
Ballet and also has training in Hip-Hop, Tap, Lyrical and Musical
Theatre.
She has competed as a student in many regional and national dance
competitions across the country. She has been teaching and
choreographing for 15 years and has been awarded numerous outstanding
choreography awards as well as high scoring routines.
Miss Kasey
Miss
Kasey began dancing with the Dance Company in 2004. Upon graduating
high school she chose Black Hills State and the Gold Rush Dance Company
to continue to develop her passion for dance. Currently, Miss Kasey has
been an assistant instructor and instructor at the Dance Company over
the last 6 years. Her specialty is instructing our younger dancers,
whom she loves for their energy, and working on developing their
abilities. Her talents include tap, jazz, and hip hop. Miss Kasey had
trained with UDA and had competed and performed throughout her dance
years. Miss Kasey is currently enrolled at Black Hills State
University where she is pursuing a Human
Miss
Sara
Miss Sara is currently a student at Black Hills State University.
Ballet is one of her favorite types of dance; it’s graceful, motivating
and beautiful. She has danced for about 10 years, and loves working with
students of all ages. She began her dancing career at the Yvette Sparks
Dance Studio in Gillette, Wyoming. After high school she moved to the
University of Wyoming and started embarking on ballet with Marsha Night
before settling in Spearfish to complete her education. Most recently
Sara has coached our Shooting Stars team, who received a judges choice
“Mr. Clean” award for excellent synchronization.
Miss Rachel
She was born and raised in Sheridan Wyoming. She danced at a local
dance studio in Sheridan since the age of three. She fell in love with
dance and wanted to continue her dancing career after she
graduated high school, so she attended the University of Wyoming and
danced on the schools dance team for two years. Needing a school change,
she transferred to Black Hills State last year. Her good friend was a
teacher for the Dance Company last year and she is the one that got
Rachel hooked into teaching at this wonderful dance studio. She is so
excited to teach and continue dancing. It is truly her passion and she
cannot wait to have a great year of dancing!

Miss Jennifer
She was born and raised in Pierre, South Dakota and has been involved in
dance since age 3 She grew up learning tap, jazz, and ballet at Sarah’s
Dance Studio in Pierre. During her senior year, she performed in 7
dances at the yearly recital!
She is currently attending Black Hills State
University, pursuing a major in Accounting. During her sophomore
year she had the opportunity to dance with the BHSU Gold Rush Dance.
Company. It was an awesome experience and she enjoyed performing with
her fellow dancers. This is her first year of teaching dance
and she is very excited to get to know each of her students and watch
them grow as dancers. She looks forward to a great year!
Miss Jamie --- She has been dancing for 15 years
learning the basics, ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, hip-hop. She started
dancing at the age of three in Colorado Springs, CO. A year later,
she and her mother moved to Sturgis, SD where she enrolled at Prima
School of Dance in Rapid City. She has danced there for 11 years. While
there, Miss Shauna was one of her dance teachers. During her
sophomore year of high school she came to dance at the Dance Company and
has been dancing here ever since. She graduated from Sturgis Brown High
School and is now enrolled in her second year in college at Black Hills
State. She is very excited to be teaching this year and looks forward
to getting to know her students. |
